This short piece is another piece in my "Grumpy Bear" series, where the grumpy bear's nap is interrupted by an external noise outside his cave. It may be a squirrel or another animal trying to disrupt the peace. Anyway, the piece is in G major (few sharps, perfect for those on level 1 students). It presents the bear in a dream-like state in the beginning (the repeated eighth note pattern). Then, the style of playing takes on a more pointed demeanor (tenutos, tenuto-staccato). The second half seems to change keys to C major even though the main key signature still remains. The piece stays in C until two or three measures from the end where G major comes back into the picture. It can keep the student's interest. It is well-suited for private performances and recitals.
