Greetings to Losoncz (Gruss an Losoncz) is a festive concert march composed during Lehár’s period of service as a military bandmaster in Losoncz (today Lučenec). The work belongs to the rich late-19th-century Austro-Hungarian military band tradition and reflects both ceremonial brilliance and local patriotic sentiment.

The march follows the classical European military march structure. A firm and rhythmically defined opening establishes a confident and dignified atmosphere. The principal theme is clear, memorable, and strongly articulated, designed for outdoor performance as well as concert presentation.

The Trio section provides contrast through a broader, more lyrical melodic character. Here the music becomes warmer and more expressive, offering a sense of civic pride rather than purely military display. The scoring highlights the singing qualities of the wind band, allowing for dynamic shaping and expressive phrasing.

In its final return, the march regains its full brilliance, closing with strength and clarity. Greetings to Losoncz stands as a fine example of Lehár’s craftsmanship as a military composer and reflects the cultural life of the Austro-Hungarian garrison towns of the era.
