The traditional tune "Good King Wenceslas" is here arranged for a three-part choir with sopranos (range C4-G5), altos (range G3-C5), and baritones (range A2-D4) - there is no additional divisi and it could be sung by a confident trio of soloists. The verses have extremely varied harmony, with all parts getting the melody at various times. Chromatic work in verses 3 and 4 gives a dark, haunting harmony before verse 5 returns with a bright 3-part fugue. This will be an enjoyable challenge for any SABar choir, without any part feeling bored or left out!
