This classic anthem has remained one of Choristers Guild's best selling anthems for over 20 years. Based on John 3:16, the anthem's long, legato melody beautifully underscores the eternal message of God's love for all people and God's gift of redemption through Christ Jesus. The piece works splendidly for either unison or two part treble choirs during Lent or any time of year. An edition for SATB voices is also available (CGA1147). Voicing: Unison/Two Part, Keyboard, optional Flute or Violin Composer: John D. Horman Text: John D. Horman Scripture: John 3:14-16 Season: Lent; Ordinary/General Lectionary: Year A - Lent - Second Sunday of Lent; Year B - Season after Pentecost - Trinity Sunday; Year B - Lent - Fourth Sunday of Lent.

a gem
This setting of John 3:16 is a true gem. It has versatility for use with unison or parts, with or without flute and there is an SATB version but with my relatively advanced choir I prefer the simpler one. The reason is that I am using as a one-rehearsal anthem in the summer, but also using for kids later in in the season . . . a text that is good any time of year and helps kids know God's word. Thanks John Horman
