Sullivan (A0.961615).When I composed "God Is Love,"I combined the core message of the 1st letter of St. John: "God is love and those who abide in love abide in God, and God in them," and Ps 107: "Oh give thanks to God for He is good. His love is everlasting." Instead of using the word "remain," I chose the word "abide" because it has a more intimate connotation.
"God Is Love" works well in the liturgy as an offertory or communion meditation. It is also suitable in a concert venue, especially one where the theme is peace and reconciliation.

When a simple text is provided with an excellent chord progression supporting a clear melody then a wonderful choral piece can result. Such is the case with God Is LoveEffective and straight to the heart.
