This is indeed a glorious work, and although it may seem more aptly suitable for a concert than a worship service, it is, in its own way, a profoundly beautiful and spiritual piece. Despite his apparently light-hearted character, Francis Poulenc was a devout Catholic, and he sensed a powerful connection between the earthly and the divine, which he conveys in this wonderful treatment of the canticle of the angels.

This is a good transcription of the orchestra writing. Note size, markings, etc. are great from an accompanist's POV. The music sits well and opens easily for both accompanist and singer. Notes and text are easy to read. I recommend this edition for accompanists & singers alike. The beautiful choral writing can be rhythmically and harmonically complex. There are many added accidentals and large jumps; expect to spend significant time on part learning BEFORE tutti rehearsals. Fluency in solfege would be a big plus. The piece itself is very beautiful, and will be rewarding to perform.

This edition costs quite a bit more than the voices only version, but is well worth the extra expense. The piano reduction is a huge help for practice purposes, and great for knowing where you are during a performance. Also, the other score contains errors - we found three on a read-through, but I'm sure there are others.
