Commissioned by the New York State Band Directors Association in celebration of its 30th Symposium, Ghost River is a 7-minute tone poem for winds. Colgrass uses multiple techniques throughout the instruments to reflect ripples, rills, splashes, and the stillness of depths in his imagined Ghost River.
