(Ghost) Riders in the Sky was written in 1948 by Stan Jones. It is widely recognised as one of the greatest country songs of all time and has been interpreted by many of the best-known artists in the genre, including the great Johnny Cash. The lyrics tell of a cowboy witnessing a group of damned cowboy spirits being obliged to chase a herd of demonic cows across the sky for eternity. It is typical of the moralistic, cautionary tales expressed in many such songs in the style.
This arrangement offers an optional bass guitar part.
