By Gloria Estefan. By Clay Ostwald; John DeFaria; Jorge Casas. Arranged by David Maddux. This edition: pdf. Latin, Pop. 14 pages. David Maddux #1404656. Published by David Maddux (A0.1845091).
When Gloria Estefan released "Get On Your Feet" in 1989 from her solo debut Cuts Both Ways, it became her signature anthem — so thoroughly that she named her first solo world tour after it. Then came the collision: in March 1990, a tour bus accident fractured vertebrae in her spine, requiring surgery and months of grueling rehabilitation. The song that urged the world to stand up and take action suddenly described her own desperate personal reality. She did get back on her feet, and the song's resilience took on legendary weight. It eventually lent its title to the 2015 Broadway musical On Your Feet! telling her life story. David Maddux's TTBB arrangement captures all that Latin-pop fire — the driving groove, the surging chorus, the irresistible call to action — in a package chorus directors will find both singable and electrifying.
