Big band with vocal (Vocal, 2 Alto Saxophones, 2 Tenor Saxophones, Baritone Saxophone, 4 Trumpets, 4 Trombones, Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drums) - Difficult
SKU: JL.JLP-9097
By Frank Sinatra With Count Basie. Edited by Rob Duboff and Jeffrey Sultanof. Arranged by Billy Byers. Jazz Vocal. Swing. Score and parts. Jazz Lines Publications #JLP-9097. Published by Jazz Lines Publications (JL.JLP-9097).
Billy Byers was commissioned by Quincy Jones in June of 1965 to write this arrangement for an upcoming tour Frank Sinatra was doing with the Count Basie Orchestra. It was written as an opener and originally included a 10-bar opening sequence that led to a vamp. The opening sequence was only played on one occasion, the June 20, 1965 appearance at the Kiel Opera House in St. Louis, and then was cut. For subsequent performances the arrangement was started at the vamp. We have included the original intro in this publication. In addition, there were a few cuts in the arrangement - we have included all the original music and have indicated what was cut so that you have the choice in what you wish to include for your performance. This has been published from the original score and has been authorized by Frank Sinatra Enterprises, LLC. Ranges: Trumpet 1: F#6 Trombone 1: C5 Vocal Key: G modulating to Ab modulating to A.
