The tuba part remains in the beginner to intermediate pitch range while musical challenges can be found in the dynamics (piano-forte), sustained notes, and 12/8 time signature. The time signature and syncopations give this familiar melody a gospel feel. It is an excellent arrangement for competitions and concert performances.
The piano accompaniment contains spicy jazz harmonies with a variety of chord voicings and progressions. I’ve included the chord symbols and lyrics in this arrangement. It can be performed with a solo guitar accompaniment or small ensemble. The lyrics will help the musician capture the emotion and phrasing of the lyrics.
