Published by Cristiano Vecchi (A0.1705168)."Gelobet seist du, Jesu Christ" ("Praised be you, Jesus Christ", BWV 314) is a warm, tender and imaginative Christmas chorale, where the joy of angels is gracefully represented by a figure of angel's wings on the word "Engel" (bar 9); here in an arrangement for the classical Wind Octet (two Oboes, two Clarinets in Bb, two Horns in F, two Bassoons) in which the phrasing follows the syllabation of the German lyrics, while dynamics are an interpretation of mine. In this version the four-part Chorale has been doubled to the upper octave to evoke the sound of an organ registration.
