This arrangement of Ennio Morricone's Gabriel’s Oboe by Jeremy S. Martin features solo oboe, but includes optional parts to feature nearly any other wind player. Unlike most available band arrangements, this edition is presented in the original key of D Major, which is how most oboe players learn to perform the original. While the solo oboe is a slightly more advanced part, the band accompaniment (aside from the key signature) is fairly simple and should require a minumum of rehearsal time.
UPDATE! By popular request, the sheet music also comes with optional "Supplemental & World Parts," including E-flat Horns, B-flat Trombone parts (both bass and treble clef) B-flat Euphonium (Bass Clef), and tuba parts (E-flat Treble & Bass clef, B-flat Treble and Bass clef).
Gabriel’s Oboe was written by Ennio Morricone as the main theme of the 1986 motion picture The Mission. Directed by Roland Joffe, the film is set in the imperial era of Spain and Portugal. The story is about a Jesuit missionary who builds a mission in the South American wilderness in hopes of converting the natives there to Christianity. The Mission was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score, and won the Golden Globe for Best Original Score.
