Published by Yves Bouillot (A0.1540087).Adolphe-Charles Adam was a French composer born on July 24, 1803 in Paris, and died in the same city on May 3, 1856. Adolphe Adam chose the career that then led most surely to fame and fortune: that of lyric composer. 1841 saw the birth of Adolphe Adam's most lasting success, his ballet Giselle. He composed a Funeral March for the return of the ashes of Emperor Napoleon I and their burial at the Invalides on December 15, 1840. It is this Funeral March that is transcribed here for the modern wind orchestra (with some ad libitum instruments : soprano saxophone, Eb cornet, for exemple).
