An arrangement for saxophone quartet (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone) of a fugue by the Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti (1797-1848). Although best known today for his vast operatic output (at least 65 operas), Donizetti also produced a large number of instrumental, chamber and vocal works, that included 16 symphonies and 19 string quartets. This fugue is one of a number of pieces in this musical form that he composed for unspecified instruments quite early on in his life (the manuscript for this one is dated 1817). The music makes use of some interesting chromatic passages and would be an unusual addition to any recital program. The set comprises full score and parts. Difficulty level : Intermediate/Advanced.
