Composed by Bill Cates. Arranged by Bill Cates. This edition: pdf. 21st Century, Patriotic. 26 pages. In Nomine Ejus Publishing House, Greensboro, NC 27406 #1401396. Published by In Nomine Ejus Publishing House, Greensboro, NC 27406 (A0.1841871).

This 10 minute anthem is built on the tune Materna/America the Beautiful and is scored for Mixed Voices/SATB choirs, church or community, with organ accompaniment, and optional orchestral accompaniment. Includes many brief measures of other "patriotic" tunes. Written in honor of the 250th Birthday of the United States, the piece is designed to be used in a patriotic service for church or community setting, or collegiate settings. Quoting the Gettysburg Address, the piece uses the Revolutionary War tune "Chester" in a stirring men's chorus section, which then leads to traditional drum and fife (scored for three piccolos) sounds, all of which then lead to a giant buildup to the end of a rousing ending with the choir and invited audience to sing "O beautiful for spacious skies....". The sounds of the birth of a new nation in 1776, drums, fifes, cries for equality, freedom from Englans, this piece reaches a bold and spirited climax. A countermelody to "Materna" is used for the first time.
