Freebop by Neal Finn Big Band - Sheet Music

By Neal Finn

Named for the intense style of jazz Miles was playing with his quintet in the late 1960's. An unusual composition for me. Based on a twelve tone row, this piece is sometimes tonal, sometimes atonal. Solo improvisation with no chord changes and no holds barred. Ensemble writing is tricky with many surprises. A good conversation piece for your concert program. As Duke said, "You may not understand this piece, but remember...IT'S GOOD FOR YOU.Soprano lead over saxophones. Solos: Tenor, soprano, trombone 1 and 2, guitar (or piano, drums) Vibraphone part included. 5/5/4 (5th tpt optional), P,B,D,Vibes.Lead Trumpet to High C.
