The arrangement opens with a laid-back Soul Jazz groove, establishing a relaxed and bluesy atmosphere before introducing the main theme. Following the head, the different sections of the band take over the original solos, featuring fully transcribed and carefully arranged improvisations by Wynton Kelly and Miles Davis.
During the tutti passages, the accompaniment shifts into a driving hard-swing groove, creating a powerful contrast in energy and intensity. After this dynamic section, the arrangement returns to the original bass line and settles back into the cool, blues-infused feel of the opening.
