Shakespeare songs in operetta style
These are lively and tuneful settings of four well-known Shakespeare songs. Suitable and enjoyable material for younger or for more experienced singers. This is one of several such sets by Quilter. The style is reminiscent of early 20th century operetta; think of Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald. You might also be interested in Gerald Finzi's excellent settings of Shakespeare songs, written in about the same time period, but in a somewhat more serious art song style.
