Appropriate for both older children's choir or youth choirs, this unique anthem, set in a jazz style, reinforces valuable lessons taught during the Lenten season and other times of year. The "forty days and forty nights" theme underscores the importance of setting aside time to reflect and pray, just as Jesus did in the wilderness. Also drawing from Old Testament stories of Noah and Moses, the anthem's writers emphasize the importance of waiting, trusting and following God's leadership. A Favorite, Children Love It!
The kids in the Children's Choir love this piece! I enjoyed the jazzy accompaniment, and further, the lyrics were appropriate for the kids but meaningful. As an accompanist, the piano part could be given to an intermediate youth to play, as the key change is easy (from F Major to G Major), and the piece jams well with the congregation, who tapped their feet and bobbed their heads in rhythmic approval. We will be using this again, it woke up our sleepy congregation, all while carrying a meaningful message. A good piece of unison choral music! Truly makes a joyful noise!-Tyler
