De 'Spaanse Limburger', zoals Jef Penders vaak ge-noemd wordt, woont sinds ettelijke jaren in de provincie Valencia waar hij intens bij het lokale muziekleven betrokken is. Voor zijn vriend Jesús Alcántara schreef hij deze prachtige seguidilla Per al meu Amic (Aan mijn Vriend). De seguidilla is een typische Spaanse volksdans in snelle driekwartmaat die reeds in de zestiende eeuw bekend was en eigenlijk de melodische voortzetting van de bolero is. Penders bewijst overduidelijk dat hij zich moeiteloos de Spaanse muzikale ziel heeft eigen gemaakt.

Jef Penders, often called 'The Spanish Limburger', lives since many years in the province of Valencia where he is strongly involved in the local musical life. He wrote this fine seguidilla Per al meu Amic (To my Friend) for his good friend Jesús Alcántara. The seguidilla is a typical Spanish folkdance in a quick three-four time which was already popular back in the sixteenth century. It is in fact the melodic continuation of the bolero. Penders proves clearly that he understood and adopted the Spanish musical spirit.

Jef Penders, souvent appelé 'L'Espagnol limbourgeois', habite depuis de nombreuses années dans la province de Valencia où il participe intensément à la vie musicale locale. C'est pour son ami Jesús Alcántra qu'il a composé cette très belle séguidilla Per al meu Amic (A mon Ami). La séguidilla est une danse populaire espagnole typique assez rapide dont la mesure est à trois temps; elle date du seizième siècle et est en fait la continuation mélodique du boléro. Penders prouve clairement qu'il s'est totalement imprégné de l'âme musicale espagnole.

Jef Penders, der oft 'der spanische Limburger' genannt wird, wohnt seit etlichen Jahren in der Provinz Valencia, wo er intensiv mit dem lokalen Musikleben verbunden ist. Für seinen Freund Jesús Alcántara schrieb er diese schöne Seguidilla Per al meu Amic (Für meinen Freund). Die Seguidilla ist ein typischer spanischer Volkstanz im schnellen Dreivierteltakt, der bereits im 16. Jahrhundert populär war und eigentlich die musikalische Fortsetzung des Boleros ist. Penders beweist ohne Mühe dass er sich die spanische musikalische Mentalität ganz eigen gemacht hat!
