For Jimmy - Combo Score Jazz Ensemble - Digital Sheet Music

For JimmyWritten for jazz organist Jimmy Smith on the eve of his passing.I am primarily a pianist these days, but for years, played Hammond B3 with folks like the Nite Riders and Spider Martin on the East Coast "chitlin' circuit" before moving to California to study Hindustani Classical Music. Years later, I was returning from my regular piano gig when I heard on the radio that Jimmy Smith had just left us. When I got home, I went directly to the Hammond A-100 in my recording studio, turned on the recorder and this is what came out. With a few minor mods to correct harmonies, all the parts were composed in one short session. The piece made its debut at the 50th Monterey Jazz Festival, the audio track here is from that evening. You can also see the entire performance on my website at https://www.davidkempton.com/mjf4/And while it was written for B3 lead, it plays just as nicely with piano, here it is: https://www.davidkempton.com/rec/mobius/Enjoy!
