excellent play-a-long
What I like about Jim Chapin's play-a-longs is that first rate Jazz musicians are used and the arrangements are enjoyable to play. Also, a very nice aspect is that two possible interpretations of the chart are given. One is audio with Jim playing on the tracks with drums. The other (a separate interpretation) is written in conjunction with the arrangement. This reinforces that there are many different ways to approach a chart and gives the student many ideas to work with when playing the tracks without drums. As a professional Jazz drummer who has taught at the college level for over many years, I wholeheartedly endorse this product.
