The song and its lyrics refer to guys in first class, New York, Los Angeles, small talk, flirting, flight attendants, thirty thousand feet, Oklahoma, square cornfields, wheat farms, looks the same, miles, backroads, highways, little towns with funny names, middle of nowhere, Indiana, plowed the earth, planted seed, harvest moon, Kansas, why God made those flyover states, Sante Fe freight train, engineer, flatbed cowboy, U.S. steel, three-day haul, roads and rails, first-class seat, windshield sunset, water-colored painted sky, Heaven’s doors, Badlands, freedom, breathe in, Amarillo, plant your stakes, take a ride.
This heartfelt arrangement is based on the original recording; however, the musical feel is different in that it has a more Pop and syncopated feel. This arrangement includes a short dance / instrumental break and is designed for high school or college show choir, concert choir or community choir.
