This arrangement of the great standard, Fly Me To The Moon is for featured solo flute and string quartet. This piece gives something different first having a solo flute with string quartet is fairly rare but a perfect combination. This arrangement is jazzy but all the "jazz" is notated for all parts. The cello is set in the role of the jazz bass with cool bassline writing. The flute has the melodic content, but an extended writen out section that evokes a hip jazz solo. Again, that is all writen out. No improvizational chops required. The way jazz music feels and flows is never notated, it is just something one gets or does not get. For classical musicians jazz seems like a different world. This arrangement is set so classical players can indeed sound more hip, more jazz like. Audiences will enjoy the contrast and so will the players.
