Florida Man is a humorous and high-energy piece for guitar ensemble that’s guaranteed to bring the house down. Inspired by infamous headlines from the Sunshine State, this three-movement work blends twangy bluegrass flair with absurd storytelling, all through the lens of a driving, accessible ensemble piece.
Each of the three short movements is based on a real headline:

The three guitar parts are designed for intermediate-level players and are fun to rehearse and perform. The bass part is flexible and can be played on electric bass, upright bass, tuba, uke bass, or another suitable low-end instrument.
The real star of the show is the 5-string banjo, featured prominently throughout and best handled by an advanced player with strong solo chops and a sense of humor.
