In 2015, the flute virtuoso Laurel Zucker released an album called Lil Lite O’ Mine: Flute Music by Composers of African Descent. I was honored to have a couple of pieces included on that album.Recently I decided to write a new piece dedicated to Laurel. That piece called FLIGHT begins slowly and then suddenly takes off like a bird on its maiden voyage leaping from a cliff. After a torrid swing through the sky, the young bird lands gently.
