Flamenco Fantasia is a brand new piano piece for advanced intermediate piano
inspired by the gypsy "flamenco " dance tradition. Very helpful for the piano student to be
familiar with E major, e minor and B major scales and chords, which can be taught
alongside this fiery and exciting piano recital solo.
Incorporating the flamenco rhythms of hemiola in 3/4 time, this energetic work requires a specific technique. Spanish style flamenco pieces for piano are hard to find. Composed especially for the advancing intermediate piano student this flavorful and rhythmic piece is a recital hit. Composer Julia Muench draws upon her extensive experience teaching piano and working with flamenco dancers, namely the Alborada Dance Theatre in New Jersey, accompanist for the Academy of Dance Arts in NJ and her own practice of the flamenco dance.
