Can a child join an orchestra after just one violin or cello lesson? Of  course they can! You just need the right repertoire – and that’s what you have found in this book.

With these flexible arrangements, absolute beginners can play together with slightly more experienced pupils, or with their teacher, or a pianist – or why not with singers? Whichever way they are used, the arrangements will sound  good right from the start, enabling young string players to experience the joy  of making music together – from the very beginning.

"Star" part: for absolute beginners. Simple rhythmic patterns or ostinatos on open strings, very well suited for learning by ear.

"Moon" part: for pupils who have just progressed beyond open strings. Simple patterns using fingers on one string only.

"Sun" part: usually a well known melody. This can be sung, or played by a more experienced pupil or a teacher. Provided with chords for optional piano or guitar accompaniment.
