It premiered in New York City on 16 December 1893. It has been described as one of the most popular of all symphonies. This arrangement for string quartet (Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello) of the beautiful last movement flawlessly renders all the magnificent original orchestral colors. It is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.
