Camille Saint-Saëns, verkeerde tijdens het schrijven van zijn Derde Symfonie op de piek van zijn artistieke vermogens. In dezelfde periode schreef hij ook zijn Derde Vioolconcert, de Danse Macabre en zijn wereldberoemde Carnaval der Dieren. Het werk draagt de ondertitel Orgel-Symfonie omdat Saint-Saëns het kerkorgel hierin gebruikte als een orkestinstrument; niet noodzakelijkerwijs met een solo-rol. In dit arrangement wordt deze rol overgenomen door de koperblazers van het orkest.

Camille Saint-Saëns, wrote his Third Symphony, while at the peak of his artistic abilities. During the same period he also wrote his Third Violin Concerto, the Danse Macabre and his world famous Carnival of Animals. This work bears the subtitle Organ Symphony because Saint-Saëns used the church organ as an orchestral instrument; but not always with a solo role. In this arrangement the role of the organ is taken over by the brass players of the orchestra.

Camille Saint-Saëns, en écrivant sa Troisième Symphonie, était au sommet de ses capacités artistiques. Durant la même période, il a également écrit son troisième Concerto pour violon, la Danse Macabre et son célèbre Carnaval des Animaux. L'œuvre porte le sous-titre Symphonie de l'orgue parce que Saint-Saëns a utilisé l'orgue de l'église comme instrument d'orchestre; pas nécessairement avec un rôle solo. Dans cet arrangement, ce rôle est pris en charge par les cuivres de l'orchestre.

Camille Saint-Saëns befand sich während der Komposition seine 3. Sinfonie auf dem Höhepunkt seines künstlerischen Schaffens. Während dieser Periode schrieb er auch sein 3. Violinkonzert, den Danse Macabre und seinen weltberühmten Karneval der Tiere. Die 3. Sinfonie hat den Untertitel Orgel-Sinfonie, da der Komponist auch die Kirchenorgel ins Orchester integriert hatte; nicht zwangsläufig mit solistischen Aufgaben. Im vorliegenden Arrangement ist diese Aufgabe den Blechbläsern des Orchesters übertragen worden.
