This stirring setting of the English tune KINGSFOLD is arranged for congregation, optional SATB voices and descant, brass quartet or quintet, and optional timpani. Proclamatory phrases for brass and organ are interspersed with short phrases of the tune in the introduction, which is reprised in the short coda. Of the 3 stanzas that are included, one is the standard Vaughan Williams harmonization, and one is intended as a final stanza. A welcome treatment of an often used hymn tune.
