This is a collection of traditional folk songs which featured in the 1967 and 2015 film versions of Far From the Madding Crowd or are referred to in the novel. Seeds of Love is sung by Joseph Poorgrass in the 1967 film, Bushes and Briars is sung by Bathsheba, played by Julie Christie, in the same film. In the 2015 version, Bathsheba, played by Carey Mulligan, sings Let No Man Steal Your Thyme.Outlandish Knight is sung by Granfer Cantle in the novel. Bold Grenadier is sung in the background in the 1967 film to represent Sergeant Troy. Morning Dew is sung by Bathsheba's farmhands at the end of the same film. Each song has at least one variation. The songs have been arranged for lower intermediate level guitar (classical or acoustic), though some of the variations are at intermediate level.
