"Fantasy on an Old American Hymn" uses two old American hymn tunes from the shaped note singing style along with tonally colorful music inspired by visits to beautiful Cade's Cove in East Tennessee. The two hymns are 1. "The Promised Land" (this version is attributed to Miss M. Durham) which is used for the hymn "On Jordan's Stormy Banks" and 2. "Holy Manna" ( attributed to William Moore) which is used for many texts, notably, "Brethren We Have Met To Worship". "Holy Manna" was originally published by William Moore in Columbia Harmony (1825), and both hymn tunes were later published in William Walker’s Southern Harmony and Musical Companion (1835). Download consist of enough parts for a large concert band. Parts include Baritone T.C. Duration is 5:30. Grade 4.
