Commissioned by well-known 20th-century classical guitarist Andrés Segovia, who called it “the most important work written for the guitar.” this is the only known guitar work by Joan Manén. The two most likely met in 1915, when Segovia came to Barcelona, along with guitarist Miguel Llobet. This newly engraved, fresh edition most closely resembles the original manuscript by the composer, with Segovia’s modifications for the guitar. Where Segovia’s notes were unclear, editor Angelo Gilardino interpreted them with advice from other scholars of the instrument. For advanced players.
