Het grote ballet “la Péri”, is het laatste gepubliceerde werk van de Franse componist Paul Dukas. Het werk werd besteld door de grote Diaghilev en zijn “Ballets Russes”. Dukas schreef de fanfare nadat hij het ballet voltooid had, met het doel om een middel te hebben om het publiek na de pauze attent te maken op de voortzetting van de voorstelling. Het stuk, geschreven speciaal voor koperblazers, is zo geliefd, dat het bekender is dan het ballet zelf.
