This festive proclamation of thanks pairs two traditional hymns: "Now Thank We All our God" and "Rejoice, the Lord Is King." Singing begins with a new melody for the traditional text. A four-measure melismatic "rejoice" (echoing DARWALL) punctuates each line of the new melody. Bits of both the traditional tunes are masterfully interwoven during the last half of the piece, culminating in a grand statement of gratitude and joy. The trumpet adds to the festive nature of the anthem.
