If you have a capable tuba player in your ensemble, then this is the perfect piece for you!
At just over 4 minutes in length, this accessible work is a real concert feature suitable for more novice ensembles. Featuring a maestoso introduction section and cheerful, upbeat and catchy melody punctuated by a short interlude into the main soloist cadenza, “Exploring the Bassment” keeps the band accompaniment scoring relatively simple but interesting for players and is jam-packed full of learning points. The soloist can really shine in the short (notated) cadenzas with ossia notes for players with more limited ranges.
Parts are around Band Grading 1.5-2 and soloist part around Grade 3.
