Ron Howard's 1992 film Far and Away starred Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in a saga of Irish immigration to American in the 1890s. Drawing on the rich tradition of Irish music as inspiration, John Williams uses original themes, but in an Irish style, in creating a sweeping film score that beautifully captures and enhances the moods portrayed in the film. Relive Far and Away with Your Band!
I absolutely love John Williams, and 'Far and Away' is such a sweeping score! This Grade 5 concert band arrangement by Paul Lavender lets our community band dive into those epic, Irish-inspired themes. It's definitely a challenge, requiring dedication, but the reward of playing such beautiful music from the movie with friends is incredibly satisfying. Highly recommend for ambitious adult bands!
