Commissioned on behalf of the Arizona State Teachers Association with the support of pianist Benita Rose for its June 29, 2025 conference, Eterna is a piano work with a pedagogical intention that combines poetic sensitivity with a technical focus.
Inspired by a fleeting moment of intimacy under the moonlight— where clarity and mystery coexist— the piece explores themes such as memory, longing, and celestial beauty. Echoing the emotional contours of a waxing moon and the quiet intensity of an incomplete presence, Eterna invites the performer to delve into a subtle and ever-shifting emotional landscape.
The musical structure, conceived as a meditation on partial light and fragmentary presence, offers varied textures that evoke the ephemeral nature of memory.
