Composed by George Butterworth. Arranged by edited by John M. Laverty. This edition: pdf. 20th Century, Classical. 50 pages. Zephyrwindmusic.com #1275776. Published by zephyrwindmusic.com (A0.1712127).
Score and parts. English composer George Butterworth (1885-1916) was unable to fulfill his potential in the music world due to World War I. Killed at the Battle of the Somme at the age of just 31, he still had a lasting impact on music. A contemporary of Vaughan Williams, he successfully incorporated English folk songs into his works. What is revealed through his limited number of published works is a composer full of unfulfilled promise. A person of self-imposed high standards relating to his work, he only allowed a small number of pieces to be made available for performance. As with all Zephyrwindmusic publications, parts come with an Unlimited Copy License, thus removing any copyright issues in the way parts are used. Parts can be used in analog form – printed on paper – or uploaded as a digital part onto a reading device such as an iPad for performance. Parts can also be legally uploaded onto a website for players to download.
Instrumentation:
2 Flutes
2 Oboes
2 Clarinets in B-flat
2 Bassoons
4 Horns in F
Harp
Strings.
