Each of these pieces were written to commemorate the lives of people and a group of animals that were significant to me and the community in which I live. Andy’s Song was composed in 2011 to commemorate the contributions to the Arts that founding member of the Denmark Arts Council and highly regarded stained glass artist Andy Ducker made over many years. Oxygen 8 was written for generous local arts patron and renowned local Tea Shoppe owner Mary Rose. Weinup was written to commemorate the atrocious immolation of many families of the iconic Western Australian marsupial known as the numbat by a fire ignited by the West Australian Department of Biodiversity and Conservation under their highly questionable biodiversity and habitat destroying Prescribed Burning program. Elegy for Andre was written to commemorate the contributions to the Arts by another founding member of the Denmark Arts Council highly regarded visual artist and videographer and artist Andre Steyl. Carlebel's Canon was written in memory of my longtime student Carl Perrin who achieved his dreaming of learning to play the piano.
