Elgar: Nimrod – Easy & Advanced String Orchestra
This arrangement of Nimrod from Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations has been specially adapted for mixed-ability string orchestras, allowing beginner and more advanced players to perform together confidently. The music retains the expressive depth and noble character of the original while remaining accessible for developing ensembles.
All Part B lines for Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass are written using open strings and first finger only, making them suitable for beginner players, returning adults, and less experienced ensemble members. The standard parts provide greater musical detail for more confident players, ensuring that every musician has a meaningful role within the performance.
To support flexible instrumentation, a Violin 3 part is included that doubles the Viola line, making the arrangement practical for orchestras with limited viola numbers.
