Elegy-Nocturne
After having heard this piano solo on You.Tube, I wasn't sure if I would be able to find the music. Thankfully, it was available via Sheet Music Plus. I printed a clean copy via digital download at a reasonable price.The piece is in A Major, 4/4 time, with a few meter changes. Triplets and sextuplets lend a flowing style to the piece. Three-against-two passages are lovely.Dynamic contrasts and opportunities for rubato make this solo an expressive piece.I have been playing the piano for several years and I enjoyed sight-reading this piece.It reminded me of Chopin's nocturnes.Also, there are sparkling passages and thick vs. thin textures. Modulations andbalance between the hands keep the musicfrom sounding predictable.This piece has inspired me to check outmore of Mr. Herea's compositions and Iwould recommend this piece to thosewho love romanticism in piano music.What a beautiful piano solo!!!
