Eleanor Rigby for Woodwind Trio
This arrangement of Eleanor Rigby for woodwind trio is so much fun, for both performer and audience. It is appropriate for medium to advanced high school or college students. The melody stays true to the Lennon/McCartney classic, and the polyrhythmic mid-section adds interest, as well as a slight challenge for the instrumentalists, making it an excellent teaching tool. The Cantabile ending submits a haunting touch that reminds us of the lyrics to Eleanor Rigby. I found this a perfect performance selection for any concert audience, as everyone loves the Beatles. If you love this arrangement, you may also like it arranged for Brass Trio, also by Taranto.

Too many time changes
Eleanor Rigby is a really fun Beatles song. This arrangement is not fun at all - even for an advanced ensemble switching between different time signatures every other measure is not necessary. Not sure why the arranger thought this was a good thing to do, but it doesn't make reading this piece easy. The beginning starts off well, but once you get to letter D, it is confusing and just not worth it to keep playing. The rest of my trio told me to delete it from my library :(. Kind of sucks after paying so much for the arrangement.
