There is only little information about the composer Jan Kašpar. He studied violin and chorus at the Prague conservatory, was also military musician, choir conductor in Radnice and conductor and music teacher in Rokycany, both towns in Bogemnia. He composed church music, works for violin and orchestra like this waltz Elbewellen (Elbe Waves). The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "New Year's Concert" on 6 January 2011 at the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria.
