In April of 2024 we lost my first guitar teacher and the progenitor of the Texas Guitar Festival and Competition, Dr. Enric Madriguera. I composed this piece to honor him at our first edition of the festival without him. The piece shares a stylistic kinship with a selection I composed many years before of which Dr. Madriguera was very fond. The title reflects two things: that music is the aspect of humanity that binds all of us, and that Dr. Madriguera served as the heart of my introduction to the serious study of music.
En avril 2024, nous avons perdu mon premier professeur de guitare et fondateur du Texas Guitar Festival and Competition, le Dr Enric Madriguera. J'ai composé cette pièce en son honneur lors de notre première édition du festival sans lui. Elle partage une parenté stylistique avec une sélection que j'avais composée de nombreuses années auparavant et que le Dr Madriguera affectionnait particulièrement. Le titre reflète deux choses : la musique est l'aspect de l'humanité qui nous unit tous, et le Dr Madriguera a été au cœur de mon initiation à l'étude sérieuse de la musique.
