Whether you remember the Righteous Brothers’ version as a pop ballad, or the backing to a ludicrous Love Scene in Naked Gun 2½ , this is for you!In order to give the guitar the deepest bass, and yet remain in a guitar-friendly key, the guitar is tuned to 6=D and has a Capo on fret 1, to give a comfortable and clean orchestration in the key of Eb. It has an amount of fingering which provides the most secure chord shapes and the best sustain.Having kept the guitar close to the key of the original and provided a deep and resonant accompaniment, we have a dilemma with the clarinet part - we can stay in the Chalumeau register for almost the whole piece, and get a husky and deep mellow clarinet part, or we can play the melody an octave higher, meaning we stay in the Clarion register nearly all the time - the “build” to the climax is more effective, but you might find it a little shrill and tiring.So there’s a choice!
