Originally commissioned by the Ronen Chamber Ensemble for clarinet and cello, then premiered in 1988, it occurred to two of David Baker's students, Tod Kerstetter and Michael Chesher, that Duo would work extremely well for clarinet and bass clarinet also. It is hoped that this arrangement will broaden the appeal of this work in the clarinet repertoire.
