Two Evocations. 'Musica llunyana, en la nit' (Faraway music in the night) and 'Dalt del cim' (High on the summit) based on poems by Marius Torres for voice ad string quartet. It was the painter Angel Jove who gave me the idea of putting music to one of the poems by Marius Torres, which were unknown to me up until then. I was soon attracted by the sensitivity of this great artist whose poems brought numerous musical images to my mind. I chose two, the ones that seemed closest to my musical personality at that time: 'Musica llunyana, en la nit' and 'Dalt del cim'. There was neves any doubt in my mind that the string quartet was the best formation to accompany the voice and express the subtle and nostalgic thoughts that these poems inspire. While in 'Musica llunyana, en la nit' there is more contrast of expression and tempi, the mood of 'Dalt del cim' is more uniformly developed in soft impressionist transparent tones. "Musica llunyana, en la nit" y "Dalt del cim" sobre poemas de Marius Torres para voz y cuarteto de cuerda. Fue el pintor Angel Jove quien me sugirio la idea de poner musica a alguno de los poemas de Marius Torres, hasta ese momento desconocido por mi. Pronto me senti atraido por la sensibilidad de ese gran artista, cuyos poemas me hicieron pensar en numerosas imagenes musicales. Escogi dos de ellos, los que en aquellos momentos me parecieron mas proximos a mi personalidad musical: "Musica llunyana, en la nit" y "Dalt del cim". Nunca dude de que el cuarteto de cuerda era la formacion mas adecuada para acompanar a la voz y expresar los pensamientos sutiles y nostalgicos que inspiraron estos poemas. Mientras que en "Musica llunyana, en la nit" hay mas contraste expresivo y de tempi, "Dalt del cim" se desarrolla en un clima uniforme y de suaves transparencias impresionistas. La partitura fue escrita en el ano 1992. --Jordi Cervello.
